Meet the Teacher:
Hello, my name is Ms. Alissa Pfeifer. I have been teaching at Our Lady of Victory School for over 20 years and have taught early childhood grades pre-k through grade 1. I have a Master's Degree in early childhood, birth-second grade, and hold dual-certification in both general and special education.
My philosophy of learning is that children learn through play while exploring their environment. When made to feel safe, secure, and accepted, they can learn to express themselves fully, and begin to navigate their world successfully.
Our goal is to maintain a happy and healthy environment, in which the students feel safe, secure, and accepted. With these feelings of security and acceptance, along with structure and consistency, children are able to establish the confidence necessary to make learning possible. We look forward to getting to know both you and your child this school year :)
Ms. Lisania Encarnación is our classroom assistant. Ms. Encarnación has been a classroom aide for over 20 years and has proven to be a tremendous asset to our classroom. We have been working together for 3 years in Pre-k Blue. She adds a wonderful dynamic to the class & we are blessed to have her working with us!
The curriculum we follow is called “DIG” published by Frog Street Press. Throughout the 8 units. Dig covers all core subject areas: ELA, math, social studies & science. In addition to Dig, there are teacher-created supplemental assignments and activities for added learning opportunities.
I look forward to working with you and your child this year & encourage you to keep up-to-date and informed by signing up with Class Dojo. You can contact me with any questions or concerns either on Class Dojo or via email at: [email protected]
