In addition to a well-rounded, values-based core academic curriculum, Our Lady of Victory also offers:
Technology Program
Students in grades K to 8 have Chromebooks. In addition, there are interactive boards in every classroom. There are iPads in the PreK classes. Plus we have an interactive table for PreK.
Physical Education
Our Lady of Victory School believes that Physical Education is an integral part of a student's health and well-being. All students participate in Physical Education in the school's full-size gym.
Art Enrichment Program
Art education at the elementary level affects student growth and development both physically and educationally. The development of motor skills is supported by the motion required in art classes, including holding pencils and crayons or using a paintbrush. Decision-making and visual learning skills are also supported by young students as they use creativity and critical-thinking skills in designing their own art projects. The development of visual-spatial skills is supported by drawing and painting activities.
STEM Enrichment Program
Students try to solve complex problems with an interdisciplinary approach while allowing students to explore new things, use their imagination and build a new invention. STEM education encourages teamwork as children can develop their communication and leadership skills while working in a team setting.
Music Enrichment Program
We have weekly music classes at OLV. Music education also benefits the mental and social development of the young child. Similar to art education, music helps to develop spatial intelligence, particularly spatial-temporal skills. This allows students to visualize how elements fit together, in turn solving math problems. Music education is also found to support the development of the left side of the brain, which processes language development. With weekly classes, students sing and play instruments, as well as learn about the structure and value of music in culture and in communities.
Plus we have an instrumental music program at OLV. Paul Effman Music serves several schools throughout the area and is pleased to bring the program to OLV. Students in grades 3-8 (for band) and grades 1-8 (for Violin) are eligible to enroll.
Lessons on the following instruments offered: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Violin and Percussion. Lesson groups will be divided into small ensembles (usually consisting of 5 – 8 students per group) by instrument and/or experience. Lessons occur after school once a week. Classes are 30 minutes. No experience is required.
Instruments can be rented or purchased through Paul Effman Music.
Students in grades 5 to 8 will receive life skills instruction every week. As part of our commitment to the whole child, OLV’s Life Skills Program introduces students to age-appropriate information about personal and community health and well-being that will help them lead happy, healthy lives and make positive contributions to their community from early childhood through adolescence and beyond. Topics include:
Depending on the grade and topic, coordinated instruction occurs in homeroom, advisory, science, physical education, and/or dedicated life skills classes. At all ages, the program establishes skills and strategies for lifelong well-being and promotes caring for the well-being of others. Throughout the program, teachers emphasize the important role students’ own family members play in guiding goal-setting, problem-solving, and decision-making.
