Meet the Teacher:
My name is Theresa Rodriguez. I’ve been a teacher here at OLV since 2016, however, I have over 10 years of teaching experience. I have a Masters's Degree and am NYS certified in birth-2nd grade as well as 1st-6th grade. I am the 6th-grade homeroom teacher at OLV, The subjects that I teach are Social Studies and Religion. I teach these subjects to 7th and 8th grade as well.
Welcome to 6th grade,
where “coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress,
and working together is success”! (Henry Ford)
The subjects that I teach are Social Studies to 6th-8th grade and Religion to 6th-8th grade.
Our 6th-grade Curriculum is as follows:
Social Studies:
Religion Curriculum:
Eureka Math Curriculum: Departmental Teacher: Ms. Brown (learn more about her here)
ELA Curriculum: Departmental Teacher: Ms. Henry (learn more about her here)
ELA consists of reading, writing, grammar, and spelling/vocabulary. I will be using the New York Progress (English Language Arts) for all my classes. These books are aligned with Common Core Standards with emphasis on reading for information, reading literature, writing essays, and building and enhancing vocabulary.
The curriculum used includes six modules that focus on reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Each module is intended to last a quarter of a school year; the addition of two extra modules allows for teacher choice throughout the year. The modules will sequence and scaffold content that is aligned to the CCLS for ELA & Literacy.
