Meet the Teacher:
My name is Mrs. Ayesha Sharjeel and I’m a 7th grade homeroom teacher and Academic Interventional Specialist at Our Lady of Victory School. This will be my 2nd year at OLV. I will be teaching science for grades 6-8. I also teach AIS.
I have earned a Master's degree in Environmental Science. During my bachelor's and master's degrees, I was awarded a gold medal. I have been teaching for the past 10 years and find it my passion. I have assisted students in small groups to improve their academic performance. In my free time, I enjoy reading books and love to apply the knowledge I acquire from them.
Welcome to my science class! I'm thrilled to embark on this journey of exploration with my students. Get ready to question, investigate, and understand the science that shapes our world. Let's make this a year of curiosity and growth.
Science Curriculum:

United States History and New York State History
Religion Curriculum - Departmental Teacher: Ms. Rodriguez (learn more about her here)
ELA Curriculum - Departmental Teacher: Ms. Henry (learn more about her here)
ELA consists of reading, writing, grammar, and spelling/vocabulary. I will be using the New York Progress (English Language Arts) for all my classes. These books are aligned with Common Core Standards with emphasis on reading for information, reading literature, writing essays, and building and enhancing vocabulary.
The curriculum used includes six modules that focus on reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Each module is intended to last a quarter of a school year; the addition of two extra modules allows for teacher choice throughout the year. The modules will sequence and scaffold content that is aligned with the CCLS for ELA & Literacy.
