Meet the Teacher:
Hi! My name is Melissa Sassone and this is my second here at Our Lady of Victory School. I have been in the education field for over six years. I have my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from birth through 2nd grade. My goal is to help guide students to become lifelong learners, who love to read, write and become respectful citizens. I look forward to a fun and successful school year together.
Our classroom aide is Mrs. Wyre. She has been with Our Lady of Victory School for over 9 years, but has been working in education for almost 20 years! Mrs. Wyre helps support the children in their everyday needs, including academics.
Our Pre-k students learn in a center-based environment. Our schedule includes two set times for learning centers. During this time students choose a center (Block center, home living center, science center, etc…) where they can explore our monthly theme in depth. This gives students the opportunity to dive into the topic we are learning. We also implement small-group instruction that focuses on literacy and math.
Here at Our Lady of Victory School, we use the DIG (Develop Inspire Grow) curriculum for the Pre-K 4 classes. With a focus on foundational skills, DIG gives preschoolers a strong skills base across all learning domains. Children are exposed to predictable routines and purposeful play which empowers them with the confidence to learn new things. DIG delivers a research-based sequence of instruction, providing multiple opportunities to reinforce concepts and solidify understanding.
